Policies

What is your cancellation policy?

I totally understand the need for flexibility in my clients' hectic schedules and respect how valuable their time is. I make every attempt to accommodate client schedules and would ask that you, as a client, do the same. To ensure that scheduled appointments flow smoothly, clients will need to confirm or cancel appointments at least 24 hours in advance. If you must reschedule or cancel your appointment, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance. Deposits are forfeited if appointment is not cancelled nor rescheduled before 24 hours. No call/no show appointments forfeit their deposit and require 100% prepayment before booking any future appointments. Appointments and changes to appointments can be made 24/7 at AprildoesMyhair.com

What if I'm late to my appointment?

I will do my best to accommodate late clients, but if you are more than fifteen minutes late, you may be asked to reschedule. If you are running late, please contact me as soon as possible to let me know. My clients are scheduled back to back, which means if I start just one client late, every client after that will be seen late. Sometimes I can catch up, sometimes I can’t, depending on what type of appointments are scheduled after yours. I completely understand that life happens, but if this is a recurring issue, a late fee may be added to your appointment cost. A text message is appreciated if you are running late to your appointment.

What is the best way to contact you?

I'm going to be real honest and say text messages, Facebook messages, or emails are the best way to reach me. I get it if you aren't really into that. Just know that I actively work behind the chair and want to respect the time of the guest in my suite, so I do not answer phone calls during client appointments. I will return calls, texts, and messages as soon as I can. My family is also super important to me, and I do not always answer messages on my personal time off, so please know it could be the next working day before I respond. The best way to book or change an appointment is online.

Can I bring my children with me?

Most of my clients like to have their hair appointment as their alone time, but it's not always possible. Children periodically have to tag along, and this is usually not a problem; please know, however, that if you need to attend to your child during your service, we may not have time for that perfect finish. I have activities to keep children busy including various toys, games, a tv with The Disney Channel, etc. For safety and liability reasons, please do not have your child sit in your lap during your appointment. The last thing I want is to drop a bowl of chemicals, a pair of scissors, or a hot flat iron into your baby’s lap.

What should I do if I'm not happy with my services?

If you are unhappy with your services, I ask that you let me know within 5 days. I always go out of my way to make my clients happy, and when someone isn’t, I will do what it takes to make the situation better. That being said, not achieving desired final results in one session, when we have discussed in the consultation that it will require multiple sessions, does not constitute a "re-do." Once again, if there is an issue, I am always willing to make it right and leave you 100% happy with your hair!

What is the difference between foiling and balayage?

Dimensional hair color is fabulous, and there are many different ways to take you from where you are to where you want to be. Foiling is highlighting your hair by weaving it and wrapping it in foils. This allows the color to be very precise. Balayage is a technique in which color is literally painted onto the hair. It produces a more sun-kissed look, and the technique is used to create a more lived-in looking color. Multiple techniques may be necessary, depending on the look you are hoping to create. I absolutely love when you come with inspiration photos so that we can decide what technique will accomplish your hair goals.

What is corrective color?

Corrective color is not only fixing a color that has gone wrong, but it is really any major hair color change. Subtle changes in hair color are generally possible at your regular hair appointments, but when dramatic changes are desired, correction appointments may be needed. It is most important to understand that color does not lift color. Once you put artificial color of any type on your hair (particularly blacks or reds), professional techniques are required to change it to anything lighter or to darken a pre-lightened color. An understanding of color theory and how hair grabs color is necessary in order avoid undesireable tones and blotchy results.  Please be assured that my first priority with color correction services is maintaining the health of your hair.

Complimentary in-salon consultations are required to schedule any corrective color appointment. Corrective color appointments are generally lengthy and cost more than traditional color services.

How long will my hair color last?

If you use high quality products (shampoos, conditioners, and styling aids) specifically designed for colored hair, your hair color should last from 4 to 8 weeks, with 5 to 6 being typical. That’s a big range, but the variance has to do with your tolerance for fading, how often you wash your hair, how hot the water is when you do wash it, and how much you’re in the sun. Water is the main culprit for fading, but if you use inexpensive shampoos with detergents, your hair color will simply not last as long. A cheap, non-color safe shampoo can strip red in one washing. You may think I'm saying that in order to get you to buy the better products here, but the higher detergent drugstore type shampoos will truly strip your color quickly. Also, conditioners with a high paraffin content will bind to your color and make it wash out more quickly.

What is Olaplex, and do I need it?

Olaplex is going to make your hair stronger and healthier, and your color will last longer. Bond Multiplier No.1 is mixed directly into your color or lightener, and after that, No. 2 Bond Perfector is applied before we shampoo. It will make a huge difference in the health of your hair. Olaplex will relink the bonds that are broken during a chemical service and strengthen your hair immediately. Olaplex can also be used as a stand alone treatment. This treatment is not included in your color price and can be added to any service for $15.00.
